Ingredients for Rice Krispie Treats for Easter

One of the things that I like about Rice Krispie treats for Easter is that they don’t require a lot of ingredients. I always try to keep this cereal on hand so that I can whip-up some treats anytime. And you can easily swap-out the candy and use something other than Cadbury mini eggs.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Measuring Cups
  • Spatula
  • Glass Bowls
  • Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 7 Cups Mini marshmallows, divided
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 6 Cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 1 2?3 Cups Mini Eggs (crushed or chopped), divided
  • 1 Cup White Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  • Butter a 9×9 baking dish.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add 6 cups of mini marshmallows.
  • Reduce heat to low and continue stirring until the marshmallows are melted. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
  • Add the Rice Krispie cereal and the remaining 1 cup of marshmallows. Gently stir until combined. Add 1 cup of mini eggs and fold them in. Be careful not to break the Rice Krispies and move quickly so the chocolate doesn’t melt too much.
  • Using a spatula, GENTLY press the Rice Krispies into the pan so that it spreads out evenly. The harder you press the harder the treats will be. Set aside.
  • Melt the white chocolate in the microwave in short intervals of 20 seconds, stirring after each time.
  • Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the bars. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mini eggs on top.
  • Allow to set at room temperature for 1 hour.
  • Cut into 9 large bars or 18 small bars.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature
  • Best enjoyed within 2 days
  • You can also use a 9″x13″ pan. This makes thinner treats and yields more servings (probably 18-24)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I use instead of butter to grease the pan?

A: For an alternative, you can use non-stick cooking spray. This will help ensure that your treats don’t stick when it’s time to cut them up. You can use parchment paper instead of greasing the pan. Parchment paper can be finicky if it moves around. You can use binder clips to secure the parchment paper to the baking dish until you have pressed the rice krispie into the pan.

Q: How long do I need to cook Rice Krispie Squares?

A: The cooking time for Rice Krispie Squares is only about 5 minutes – enough time to melt the butter and marshmallows. Once these are melted, the rest is done off the heat. As a no-bake dessert, these Rice Krispie treats for Easter are super quick and easy to make.

Q: Can I substitute the mini eggs?

A: Yes! You can use any other chocolate or chocolate treats that you prefer. Try using chopped-up Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, M&M’s, or even sprinkles! I used Cadbury Mini Eggs but you can use Hershey’s Eggies as an alternative.

There are so many possibilities when it comes to mixing up the ingredients in your Rice Krispie Squares.

Q: How long do Rice Krispie Treats Last For?

A: Rice krispie treats are best enjoyed within 2 days for the freshest experience.
