Easy Chocolate Bark with Caramel, Pecans: Ready in Minutes
What’s better than the classic flavors of Turtles? Those gooey candies loaded with caramel, chocolate, and pecans. But making turtles from scratch is a lot of work. So when you have a craving and want a sweet treat that’s ready in minutes, this easy chocolate bark will hit the spot. A quick and easy candy dessert that is perfect for any holiday, or gift giving.
Making Easy Chocolate Bark
Now when I say that this turtle bark is easy to make, I am not exaggerating. You can get it in and out of the oven in 10 minutes, and then it just needs a little longer to set. So all-in-all you’re probably talking about 30 minutes to make this easy chocolate bark. But since most of that is just cooling time, it’s a hands-off dessert that comes together in minutes.
Step by Step Including Photos
There are only three ingredients needed for this turtle bark. You need chocolate chips, caramel bits, and pecans. You can use substitutions for the chocolate chips and caramel bits, but you need to make sure that you chop everything into uniform sizes. One of the reasons why this recipe comes together so quickly is because the chocolate chips and caramel bits are the same size. So they melt at the same rate, and they blend well together.
You want to make sure that the pecans are toasted so that the chocolate turtle bark has as much flavor as possible. But the beauty of this recipe is that you can do that at the same time as you melt the chocolate.
Line two half sheets with parchment paper. On one of the baking sheets, place the chocolate and caramel bits. On the second baking sheet, place the pecans.
Put both baking sheets in the oven and bake for 3-5 minutes, until the chocolate has melted. Use a knife to swirl the chocolate and caramel together. Top with the pecans and then let the chocolate mixture set.
Once the chocolate has set, it’s time to add the finishing touches. Melt the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Microwave in additional 15-second intervals as needed. Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag, or Ziploc bag. Snip a hole in the corner of the bag and drizzle the chocolate over the bark.
Let the bark set completely before breaking into pieces. This easy chocolate bark is now ready to serve, or to package up to give as gifts. To me there’s nothing more special than a handmade gift, and this turtle bark makes it easy to give a homemade treat. Whether it’s for Valentine’s Day, Christmas, teacher appreciation, or any other time you need a quick dessert, this chocolate bark with caramel and pecans is sure to please!
