Apple Pretzels

A fun school themed snack. These chocolate covered pretzels are decorated to look like applies. Perfect for a back to school treat, or teacher appreciation gift.

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups pretzel twists
  • ½ cup red candy melts
  • ¼ cup white fondant
  • Green food coloring

Instructions
 

  • Prep a baking sheet or work surface with a sheet of parchment.
  • Tint the white fondant with the green food coloring. Use gloves to prevent tinting your hands.
  • Pinch off a small piece of fondant and shape into a triangular leaf shape. Set aside until ready to assemble. Make one fondant leaf for each apple pretzel.
  • When ready to assemble, melt the red candy melts according to the instructions on the package.
  • Dip the entire pretzel into the melted red candy melt to coat it thoroughly. Using a fork, scoop the pretzel out and tap the excess on the side of the bowl.
  • Place the dipped pretzel on the parchment and immediately place the fondant leaf. Repeat with remaining pretzels.
  • Allow to set until hardened, about 10 minutes.

Notes

Storage: Pretzel apples can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
