Easy Easter Chocolate Bark Recipe for Holiday Snack or Gift
It’s the holiday for candy and this Easter chocolate bark recipe is a quick and easy snack to make. Perfect as an after dinner treat, or a pretty Easter gift to give loved ones. See how fun it is to make this chocolate bark with pretzels, and colorful candies on top.
About Easter Chocolate Bark Recipe
This Easter chocolate bark is a thin chocolate treat, almost like a chip. The chocolate needs to be thin so that you can cut it out with a cookie cutter. One of the nice things about this chocolate bark recipe is that it is very customizable.
I made this Easter bark with white chocolate, dark chocolate, and a marbling of both, but you can use whatever type of chocolate you’d like. You can also skip the pretzels if you aren’t a fan. Or, add any other salty or sweet topping you’d like.
Step by Step With Photos
This Easter chocolate bark recipe uses both white and dark chocolate. The process is to create Easter white chocolate bark first, and then repeat the process with the dark chocolate. Let’s start with the white chocolate first.
Because you’ll want to move quickly once the chocolate has melted, start by preparing the toppings. Break the pretzels into smaller pieces and set aside in a small bowl. Have your M&M candies, sprinkles, and any other toppings you may want set aside as well.
I like to toast nuts before I use them, so I place the pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 5-8 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Remove the pecans from the oven, chop into pieces and place in a small bowl.
Place the white chocolate, or white chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval. Continue to heat the chocolate until it’s smooth and cream. Pour the melted chocolate onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
Use a spatula to spread-out the chocolate into a thin layer. The chocolate needs to be thin enough that the cookie cutter will be able to cut through it. Immediately top the chocolate with the broken pieces of pretzels, chopped pecans, colored candies, and sprinkles. Place the chocolate in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes.
Place boiling water in a bowl. I like to use a Pyrex measuring cup to heat the water in the microwave, and then I don’t have to worry about transferring it to a bowl. Place the bottom of the cookie cutter into the hot water, and then dry it off. Press the hot cookie cutter into the chocolate bark to cut out a bunny, or whatever shape you choose.
Cut out as many bunnies as you can from the white chocolate bark. Any extra pieces can be set aside until you’re done making the dark chocolate bark. Repeat the steps above to make chocolate bark. You can use milk chocolate, semisweet chocolate, or dark chocolate. Whatever flavor chocolate chips or chocolate melts you’d like. Melt the chocolate, spread it out, put toppings on it, chill, and then cut out bunnies.
Once you’re done making the white and chocolate bark, combine the pieces that were leftover after cutting out the bunnies. You can briefly melt the bark in the microwave so that you can blend the two colors together and cut out more bunnies. Or, you can skip that and just enjoy the smaller pieces of the bark as is.
I hope you enjoy making this Easter chocolate bark recipe. It really is such a quick and easy candy to make. A fun treat to make with the kids, as it’s super fun for them to add their own personal touch with the toppings. When I don’t use a cookie cutter, I enjoy just randomly breaking up the bark into smaller pieces to enjoy. The perfect little treat to enjoy, one nibble at a time.
