Three Ingredient Twix Bites

It takes just three simple ingredients to make these mini Twix bites. All you need are Rolo candies to give you the caramel center, mini Nilla Wafer cookies for the crunch. And, chocolate chips to cover the entire bite.

Making Homemade Twix Bites

These 3 ingredient Twix bites are so easy to make you won’t believe it. Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then place 30 mini Nilla wafers on the baking sheet. I like to have the flat side of the wafer on the inside of the Twix bite, so I arrange the wafers that way.

Now, place 1 unwrapped Rolo caramel candy on top of each mini wafer. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes. This is just enough time to soften the caramel so that you can easily sandwich the Rolo between the two wafer cookies.

Top each of the mini bites with a second mini Nilla wafer. Press down slightly so that the caramel center and cookies meld together. Let the cookies cool while you prepare the chocolate.

Put 1/4 cup of chocolate chips aside to use later for decorating. Pour the remaining chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave at 30-second intervals until the chocolate is melted. Use a fork to dip each of the homemade Twix bites into the chocolate.

Place the Twix bites on parchment paper until the chocolate hardens. Now you can move onto the finishing touches for these 3 ingredient Twix bites. Melt the remaining chocolate and pour it into a piping bag, or Ziploc bag. Cut a small hole in the bag and then drizzle the top of the Twix bites with the chocolate.

Storage and Freezing

I had a question about freezing these Twix bites, so I figured I would share my answer here. These mini treats are great to make ahead, as they can be stored for a long time. To store or freeze the bites, make sure the chocolate has completely set. Then place them in an airtight container, using wax paper as a divider between layers.

As long as the temperature in your house isn’t too hot, you can store these bite-sized treats for about two weeks at room temperature. Frozen, they can be stored for a couple of months. Thaw the homemade Twix bites in the refrigerator overnight. Then let them come to room temperature for a bit before serving.

  1. Can these be frozen for 3 weeks

    1. They sure can Vicki! Freeze them in an airtight container, or freezer bag. Make sure that the chocolate has set before you do this, and use wax paper as a divider if you need to layer them. Let them thaw in the refrigerator overnight and then let them come to room temperature for a bit before serving. They will keep in the freezer for months if needed.

One other note, depending upon the temperature in your house, these could also be kept at room temperature for about 2 weeks. So for me during the holidays when my house is cooler, I can make these well in advance and just store them in an airtight container at room temperature.
